PRE – INSPECTION EXPORTS TO MOZAMBIQUE

Elimination of pre-shipment inspection

The Mozambique government is committed to international organizations to eliminate all non-tariff barriers, such as pre-shipment inspection, to facilitate trade.

In September 2010, a new positive list was established, it will be reviewed this year for partial or complete modification.

The list of goods subject to pre-shipment inspection is currently as follows:

• Chapter 2 – Frozen poultry meat and edible offal, code 01.05;

• Chapter 11 – Flours;

• Chapter 15 – Oils;

• Chapter 25 – Cement;

• Chapters 28 and 29 – Chemicals;

• Chapter 30 – Drugs, codes: 30.01, 30.02, 30.03, 30.04, 30.05 and 30.06;

• Chapter 36 – Matches;

• Chapter 40 – New and used tires;

• Chapter 87 – Vehicles.

Thus, the CTA request the concerned sectors to submit their comments.

These should be sent before April 20, 2012 so that the CTA can prepare its position-paper about this matter.
